We are insistent on the proper care of your replica. As mentioned throughout these
web pages, each model ship is handcrafted to scale, museum quality, and built by
extremely skilled and gifted craftsmen. Each product is carefully crafted to give you, the
customer, the best model possible at the online price.
Proper care for your model boat is imperative for it is delicate and valuable and proper
care for it is essential. So I will begin by expressing the importance of a display case . Your display case will keep it
from physical damage (breakage) and/or damage from being soiled from dust, spills, etc... Again, an investment /
insurance for your true investment (your model ship or boat).
What not to do:
As spoken above, your model tall ship, cruise model ship or model sailing ship are somewhat fragile with the strings,
sails, etc..., so Model Ships USA does not recommend cleaning your model in the following ways:
1. Do not use a dust rag; this can snag delicate parts on your boat.
2. Do not use a feather duster; again this can snag delicate parts.
3. Do not use any cleaning chemicals to include water; this could discolor and/or damage your model's beautiful
shine.
4. Do not use your "garage" air compressor; this is too powerful and will cause damage.
5. Do not physically blow on your model ship or boat model. Saliva can proceed out of your mouth and contains acid
that can affect and stain your model and again damage your investment.
What to do:
1. The best way to get rid of debris is to use canned compressed air; the same that is used to clean out dust from a
computer. You can buy this compressed air at most places that sale computers.
2. Keep out of reach of children. Children will be children (curious) and can accidentally damage your mode ship or
boat.
Again, the best way to protect your model ship or model boat is to purchase a display case. We cannot over
emphasize the use of a display case.
